About the awards

History of the awards

The awards grew out of iN business for neighbourhoods - new way of thinking about housing which is transforming the way people see housing associations, and began life as the iNbiz Awards in 2004.

In 2006, the iNbiz Awards became the Neighbourhood Awards to focus on housing associations' vital neighbourhood role. Since then, awards' reputation has gone from strength to strength.

The Neighbourhood Awards are held every September at the Federation's annual conference at Birmingham's ICC. Glitzy and fun, they allow housing associations and other invited guests to celebrate the sector at its best.

The awards are highly respected in the housing sector and unique because they are judged by tenants.

How the awards work

The entry process is all online via this website. The entries are also judged online by tenants, who are nominated by housing associations from across the country.

The overall winner is selected from among the category winners by a panel of expert judges. Winners are announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony by a celebrity host. Hosts so far have been Rhona Cameron, Ruby Wax, Eamonn Holmes and Trisha Goddard.

The awards are free to enter for all full members of the National Housing Federation.

Entering the awards will give you the opportunity to celebrate success with your staff and tenants. Winning gives you the opportunity to share it with everyone else. So make entering the Neighbourhood Awards a priority.
