Criteria

The Neighbourhood Awards reflect the themes and specialist focus of iN business for neighbourhoods:

  • Commitment to neighbourhoods
  • Commitment to customers
  • Commitment to excellence

You will be asked to answer specific questions about your entry. For example, the Neighbourhood Improvement Award asks "How did you involve local residents and tenants?".

You will also be asked for a summary of your entry and supporting information, photos, illustrations or testimonies, which will be considered alongside your answers.

1. Peaceful and Better Neighbourhood Award

Key questions:

  • How far have things changed and how can it be measured?
  • How did you engage with and involve local residents and communities?
  • How can you demonstrate that the social and environmental change is sustainable?
2. Best Neighbour Award

Key questions:

  • What makes this person’s contribution particularly noteworthy?
  • What change has this person led or initiated?
  • Who did this person work with in order to make things happen?
3. Local Engagement and Involvement Award

Key questions:

  • In what way has your engagement activity responded to the specific needs of tenants and local people?
  • What changes to participants’ quality of life have resulted from your engagement activity?
  • How has your engagement activity demonstrated innovation, either in the methods you have used or the success you have achieved?
4. Communications Award

Key questions:

  • How has your communications activity been particularly successful in promoting iN business for neighbourhoods?
  • How have you demonstrated innovation in your communication methods, tools or strategy?
  • How has your organisation and its customers benefited from the effectiveness of your communication?
5. Partnership Award

Key questions:

  • How has your partnership demonstrated long-term commitment to shared goals?
  • In what way has your partnership found innovative or creative approaches to meeting those goals?
  • How has your partnership helped to improve the involvement of local people, groups or stakeholders?
6. Independent Living and Older People Award

Key questions:

  • How has your scheme or project met the needs of the client group in an innovative way and to the highest standards?
  • How have you ensured that service users are integrated into the local community?
  • How has the client group been involved in the design, development or management of the scheme or project?
7. Diversity and Race Award

Key questions:

  • How has your project or scheme contributed to local community Cohesion and helped combat social exclusion?
  • How has your project or scheme involved tenants and local people in its design, development or management?
  • What innovative or creative solutions have you found to meeting the diverse needs of the neighbourhood(s) you serve?
8. Best Neighbourhood Design Award - The Liveability test

Key questions:

  • How does your home feel like a good place to live?
  • How has the environment improved because of the neighbourhood design?
  • How is the environment safer because of the design?
9. Greener Neighbourhoods Award

Key questions:

  • How has your housing association contributed to greener public spaces?
  • How has your housing association maintained the high standards of its public spaces?
  • How imaginative is the design? What imaginative and creative solutions have been used to improve the green space?
10. What We Are Proud Of Award

Key questions:

  • How has your project or scheme impacted on tenants?
  • How has your project or scheme contributed to the local community and people?
  • How did partnership working contribute to the success of the project?
11. Overall Winner

The overall winner for the Awards will be selected from the other category winners by a panel of judges. They will be looking for the most outstanding contribution to iN business for neighbourhoods. The Overall Winner should demonstrate innovation, commitment to neighbourhoods, customers, excellence and evidence of change.
